"Oh hello sorry is this Rhianne?"
"This is PC Jones. Your partner....he's been involved in an accident."
I don't know what happened to my body after the policeman said those words to me, all I know is I cried. Worry and fear flooded through my veins and I had no idea what to do. My boyfriend had been knocked off of his motorbike and was in an ambulance on the way to A&E. The policeman was very kind and kept telling me not to worry. He thought my boyfriend just had a couple of broken ribs. My Boyfriend is a very lucky man.
This is the first time I have ever received one of these phone calls and it is not something I would like to repeat. I was terrified and I was probably a little hysterical as I called my mum to get me to the hospital. The silly idiot had left his van in the way of my car, and I've never driven it before so I'd probably of crashed it into the garage door or something (he's totally done that before).
The policeman told me they had only left five minutes ago and if I went down to A&E they would let me see him. For those of you who aren't squeamish tweet me and I'll send you a photo!
That night I spent 8 hours in A&E before going home to sleep but in hindsight I should have stayed and never left his side. Too bad I need money to live on. Upon leaving the surgeon finally arrived and moved him to the ITU ward. Which is intensive care. Needless to say when I found out in the morning I freaked out.
Leaving work wasn't even a choice that morning. There was no way I was staying while he sat in ITU without me. I cried on the way there and while I was with him. He got a bit teary when I entered and lifted his arms to show the multiple cannulas up one arm and just a single one in his other. In my opinion I think it was a combination of being embarrassed (he was half dressed and full of wires) and seeing how upset and worried I was for him.
That's why i've been a little MIA. I've not been promoting my posts on twitter nor did I manage to participate in Jenny from Blots and Plots October Challenge Bookoberfest on Instagram, however if you head on over onto my reads section I did a whole blog post on it instead as I still wanted to participate.
