I wasn't sure if I would do another one but here we are. A second short piece from me, and hopefully one that you're interested in! Let me know your thoughts below.
He had betrayed all them and sealed his fate with the blood on his blade. As he looked around at the bodies by his feet bile rose up in his throat. Violet would never forgive him for this but he had no choice.
Logan kicked a stone away from his shoe and turned his back to the dead. His movements were slow, but with each step, he got faster. Nothing would stop him from finishing what he started. Reaching his bike he dropped the sword and picked up the two containers of fuel he had been left.
Flynn had left strict instructions for what he was to do after the slaughter of the inhabitants. Theodore House had been filled with laughter and kindness two hours ago until Logan had walked in. He started with the north rooms and worked through the halls spraying the fluid evenly throughout. As he reached the main door something caught Logan's eye.
A hand on one of the bodies was twitching. Could they still be alive? Logan hesitated as he fought his internal want to help the person, against his need to do this one job. The Arcturus Clan had strict instructions; kill everyone inside Theodore House or his sister would be burned alive at tomorrows execution. Of course, there was a catch. If he was caught or anyone was alive to tell the tale, his sister would pay for his crimes.
His sister, little Isabelle, only ten years old. She had long blonde hair that shone like gold in the midday sun, and a hidden secret Logan had been keeping from her. Their mother was once the leader of the Arcturus Clan. With her magic unmatched by anyone. Then their father got jealous of the love and affection everyone gave her. Left one night and was never to be seen again. Until the day Isabelle turned five.
He showed up one night, drunk on revenge and ale. He'd been to the Badlands and sought out his own kind of power, tapping into the darkness that he was supposed to protect. Logan's mother died that night protecting her children and bestowing the powers onto her only female heir and making Logan promise to keep her safe.
His vision blurred for a moment, and he blinked realising that he was just staring at the fingers moving in the moonlight. Logan stepped closer to them and with one final swing of his sword cut off the hand. No sound. Everyone was dead, he was covered in blood and it was time to leave. As he reached the door of Theodore House he refused to look inside at the mess he had made and lit a fuse. He dropped it to the ground which went up in flames instantly.
Logan stood and waited for the fire to take hold of the entire house before leaving the grounds. Hidden from view under cover of a nearby wood. No-one came to check on the house. No screams came from inside. The horror that he had done just might've saved his sister. But could Isabelle forgive him for it? Would Sara be able to look at him with love in her eyes again?
Well, that's all I have for this one. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. Please remember this is raw, unedited writing.
