Historical. Another genre I am totally not sure about but would love to write and get stuck into. If I could come up with the idea I totally would. Got some? Send them my way. I am interested to see how I get on but honestly not holding out any hope for myself.
Write a short historical scene.
The past is often fraught with moments of emotional tension. Today, practice using convincing prejudices to build emotional conflict. When the conflict comes to a head, consider the personalities of each player. Will your characters fight or take flight?
She snuck up to the door and turned her head so that she could hear more clearly. The voices were quiet to begin with but once the staff had left and it was just father and suitor their voices became much louder.
"It truly would be an honour for me to have your daughters hand, I am so glad you agree," he said. Anne hearing the unmistakeable voice of Edward Bennett. Her entire body flooded with goosebumps, it made her feel like something was crawling over her and she shivered.
"Of course I agree, I am just surprised someone wants her. She's always had a flyaway mind, our Anne, but she's a good girl," he continued. Anger flashed through Anne, how could father say those things. "I assume you have a ring and a proposal?" She scoffed. Was that all he could think about? Giving her away like some possession he could sell on to the highest bidder. Her blood boiled.
I liked that more than I thought that I would. Definitely going to try my hand at historical stories. Who knows I might even incorporate this into one of them! Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
