The Spending Ban is something all of us have tried. An attempt to stop our unusual need/want/therapeutic spending on things that we really could have done without. The best time to do it is after christmas, I think anyway, because you don't have to spend much money. Plus if you're like me other people buy you gifts in January because it's your birthday.
It allows us to save money; Ask yourself, if you didn't buy those shoes you really needed, or that new dress you had to have to go out with the girls, how much would you have left over each month? I'm not saying done indulge but indulge carefully because at the end of a year you could have a nice lump which could take you on holiday
Emergencies aren't such a shock; I know they don't happen all the time but now and again we get ourselves into tight spots and need a helping hand. Tyre's blow, washing machines stop working, and people have accidents, it's the way of the world but if we aren't living on the bank balance then we don't have such a shock when emergencies happen, it's just a disappointment.
The urge to spend grows; making yourself not do something can make you wan to do it more, this means when you eventually indulge you go all out and blow a whole lot more than you would have normally, never a good thing.
My Ban Goal:
I started in January and I'm continuing throughout the year. My goal is to not spend anything unless I need to (with a few rewards obviously). I'm going to try and have a date night each month with my boyfriend. That means I can spend money on both is us to have a meal, or go to the cinema etc. I'm only buying clothes if I need them - for example; I am in dyer need of some tops as I seem to be living in the same seven so I will be treating myself to them. Hopefully this will allow me to save up some extra money so that Christmas in Australia can definitely happen!
Have you gone on a spending ban? Let me know how it went in the comments!
