Recently I asked my Instagram followers if they would be interested in seeing more of my work. More specifically if you'd like a flash fiction series on the blog - and guess what? Most of you said yes. Which terrifies me.
But I'm going to do it so here's what I came up with so far, and stay tuned for the next episode of Flash Fiction. If you have any theories about the story, pop them in the comments when you're done reading!
The war room was silent as Camilla Mayers watched Warlord Baxter deliberate on the next wave of the attack. The Colbat clan had been trying to take their land for centuries and up until now, their skirmishes failed. With the capture of their general, their attacks had become more frequent in their attempts to try and get him back.
Camilla knew Baxter was a ruthless man and he would behead General Rowe and put his head on a spike for them all to see as a warning.
“Our mages aren’t ready to mount a full-scale attack," said Warlord Seamas. He stepped forward, the dull light of the lamp illuminating his dark features. The purple circles under his eyes indicated he hadn't slept well for a while and his crankiness was starting to show. Seamas didn't like being overruled, but Baxter had the deciding vote.
"When will they be ready?" Everyone looked to Baxter as he asked. "We can't let the Goran Clan fall into the hands of the Colbat's. They will take over everything and ruin what we have been working on." Baxter crossed his arms and paced the length of the table.
"Scouts report that they plan to attack here and here." Camilla stepped forward and moved indicators to show her findings. She gulped. "So, if you're planning on displaying his remains you should do it at one of these locations."
"You're siding with Baxter? Mayers, you were supposed to be one of the good guys."
"Seamas, if we don't do something they will wipe us out, and we need to buy us some time to get the mages ready. They will be our last line of defence once the warriors are down. The only things that can fight the mutants Colbat has created." She hated what she was saying but she knew it was the truth.
Colbat's scientists were conducting experiments on animals and dead humanoids. Making them stronger faster and others even had special abilities. Some with deadly venom and others with a vicious bite that can tear the flesh from your bone.
That's all I got;
So, what did you think? This is completely pantsed and I have no idea where the story is going to go but I wanted to share something with you like you asked to see.
