I am back with another book review. This time in a genre other than Fantasy. It's been known that I get into reading slumps and go through spouts where it's super difficult to get back into it. Thankfully that has been broken.
A Cornish Escape
After her house is set on fire and her love life is left in tatters, Maddy Hart can’t believe her luck when a friend offers her the temporary haven of Wisteria Cottage. Overlooking the turquoise blue waters of the Cornish coast, the fresh air feels like a fresh start for her and her broken heart.
Peeking out of the cosy cottage windows, Maddy’s surprised to see her gorgeous but insufferable neighbour Harry Tudor has been employed to landscape the garden. But as the wisteria winding its way around the cottage begins to bloom, an unlikely friendship starts to blossom…
The cover for this book is super cute. I love the colours, the painted feel and the cottage. The blurb makes it easy to want to delve right into the story and so it didn't take me long to pick this up after meeting the author.
The book starts brilliantly with an opening that allows you to instantly like the main character, Maddy. Her jesting with the neighbour and insight into her life were a cute little snippet for the beginning. Then her house burns down and Maddy's left with nowhere to go, who is there to help her save the day? None other than her ex-firefighter neighbour, Harry.
I love how their chemistry grows as the book goes on, and Maddy then moves out of his house and into Whisteria Cottage. Then her ex shows up to cause trouble and reminds her of her broken heart. There's also a few hints of mystery in between the pages.
Overall this book was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon and I can't wait to read more from Teresa Morgan!
