Firstly I would like to thank Neverland Blog Tours for organising my Cover Reveal with all the lovely bloggers who will be sharing my cover and blurb today. However, too recently I have had to change my character names and did not have enough time to update Jenny and the bloggers sharing my information. There is more information about this further down the post! I'd like to express my sincere apologies to all those involved BUT now you get to see everything behind the final products of my book.
It's been a very long time coming and I am super excited to be able to FINALLY share something in regards to my book. If you didn't know already I started writing my book in November 2014's NaNoWriMo. I started two weeks in, I had never head of it before, and I wrote 32,000 words in two weeks. I was so impressed with myself. THEN I became an adult and got myself a new job, took three months off writing and had little writing time.
Behind The Book
I started writing again in March 2015 and by March 2016 the first draft was finished. Not being a patient person I sent it off to my editor WITHOUT editing it myself and then went through edits. In October 2016 I sent copies to beta readers, some were lovely and VERY HELPFUL, some said things that made me cry BUT it made me edit my writing again. So I got 5 copies printed send them to family and friends and MADE them help me out (they totally agreed beforehand, it wasn't must force that was needed. I also gave them cookies).
Beta reader's proved to be unreliable. Some only read the first chapter, some never read it, and some stopped when I had to change things around because my original method failed. Thankfully this did not deter me from actually keeping going. First people who will know any news about my book after this will be my newsletter subscribers. So if you aren't already sign up for tips, updates and everything else. #shamelessplug
BACK TO WHAT YOU CAME HERE FOR
As an idie author you have to do a lot of things by yourself, and the book cover is probably ONE of the hardest things to do. My book has had two titles and five covers made for it. I thought it would be fun to show you guys where it started and where it ended for my cover reveal. So here's the evolution;
The Actual Cover
BLUE. It needed blue. I absolutely knew this was the one as soon as the colour was changed.
So there is my cover! I hope you love it as much as I do.
The Character Name Changes
So as you can see from all the wonderful bloggers who are sharing this information the original Character Names were Matilda Peters and Gabriella Monroe, known as Tilly and Gabby in the story. Unfortunately due to some conflictions in my personal life I have been asked to change those names.
I had never intended to change any of my character names but with a request put in from someone, and my realisation on how close they were to people in my real life, I did not want to upset anyone. Therefore I decided to make a few name changes, Tilly became Matilda Gregson and Gabby became Jennifer Monroe.
Sadly, from a recent conversation with Jenny from Neverland Blog Tours I knew there would be no way of getting this information to the bloggers sharing my cover and blurb before today. I would like to express my sincere apologies to all involved and hopefully you're all still excited to read my book. Here's the blurb with the updated names.
Matilda Gregson never knew a world outside hers existed, that is until Harvey comes along and shows her something beyond her imagination. All that is on Tilly’s mind is finishing her dissertation, getting her degree, and spending time with her friends before the end of the school year.
But everything changes when she meets Jenny, an agent of a secret society, and nothing prepared either of them for the adventure they are about to endure. Under the pressures of surviving, their friendship grows and they find friends in the most unlikely of places, and betrayal just around the corner.
Will they both be able to stop him before he tears Jenny’s society to the ground?
Books evolve at all stages of the process and this was just two of them. All that's left is the formatting and it should be ready in Paperback and e-book soon!
