If there is one thing I love its doing these book tours. Not only do I get to promote books, ones that I love, I also get the chance to gain some new readers. At least I hope I do. So if you've never been here before please stay and look around afterwards. I'd really appreciate it.
To have and to hold? Reluctant debutante Lady Clarissa Macpherson has never forgotten the forbidden kiss she shared with notorious rake, Lord Theodore ‘Ben’ Bennett, all those years ago. Even now, he’s the one man who sets Clarissa’s pulse racing and her skin tingling – no matter how hard she tries to ignore it!
Yet, when Ben rescues her from the unwanted advances of a drunken Lord at a society ball, she finds herself in a most scandalous predicament – engaged, to the most eligible bachelor in London!
Wedded? It appears so, but bedded? Clarissa demands more from her marriage than simply surrendering to her new husband’s sexual desires, especially when she realises she’s falling deeper in love with him every single day. Ben must prove that she’s the only woman for him – and surrender his heart!
Yet resisting her new husband’s delicious seduction may prove the hardest thing Clarissa has ever done…
If the blurb isn't enough to get you to want this book now you're not my type of reader, and that's okay, but also you're crazy because this book is golden. This is a completely different story to what I am used to reading at it sucked me in straight away. The only problem I had was with Clarissa and her constant refusal to accept Lord Bennett.
To begin with Clarissa is at a ball, and it's clear she doesn't enjoy being there, and she see's Lord Bennett across the room. We are then given a small flashback which shows us she clearly has feeling for this man. In an attempt to escape the room she moves into a different one where she can be alone. Clarissa then gets accosted by a drunken idiot as she tries to escape and he seems unable to understand she wants him to go away. She does indeed tell him several times. Lord Bennett stumbles upon this incident and saves the day. Or so we think.
After being caught in a compromising position Lord Bennett announces Clarissa has just agreed to be his wife. Needless to say he stops all the wagging tongues of the onlookers and leaves the room arm in arm with Clarissa. She does indeed marry this man as her attempts to change her fathers mind get her no where and the two begin a journey together.
I loved the way they grew, and the switching between point of view worked perfectly but after a while you just wanted Clarissa to stop being so shielded and give in to the fact she is Ben's wife and he loves her.
About the author
Raven lives in Scotland, along with her husband —their children having flown the nest—in a house much too big for them, surrounded by beautiful scenery, which inspires a lot of the settings in her books.
She is used to sharing her life with the occasional deer, red squirrel, and lost tourist, to say nothing of the scourge of Scotland—the midge, and her house with the dust bunnies who congregate. They must know they won't be disturbed.
A lover of reading, she appreciates the history inside a book, and the chance to peek into the lives of those from years ago. Raven admits that she enjoys the research for her books almost as much as the writing; so much so, that sometimes she realises she's strayed way past the information she needs to know, and not a paragraph has been added to her WIP.
