It has been a long time since I have done a review for Neverland Blog Tours, purely because my TBR list is horrendously long at the moment and there are still books I am yet to add to it. However, this little thing caught me by surprise and I knew I would love to get a chance to read this.
Luck. Lust. Love.
Wedding planner Isabel Ruiz is cursed. Her hometown of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico agrees, considering her tragic track record. Alone and loveless, she creates fairy-tale weddings for others. Her only distraction? The occasional anonymous fling. So to avoid further tragedy, her rule, one–night–only, is never broken…Until Zack.
Self-made millionaire Zack James is in town for his brother’s wedding, when a sudden spell of depression hits. Maybe burned out by his fast and luxurious lifestyle? Not even his two female companions hold any interest. That is, until he meets Isabel.
She humbles and captivates him, reigniting his thirst for life. With her, Zack feels more alive than ever. To his delight—and her dismay—they share a deep bond, a sensual connection, and one mind-bending night.
Zack must have her – to complete him. And Isabel must escape him – to save him.
Their game of catch and chase leads to lust-turned-love. For Isabel, it's fate’s cruellest joke. But Zack won’t quit, positive he’s the cure to her curse. Can he convince her to risk everything with him? Or will it all go south…in paradise.
The book cover for this is absolutely beautiful. I love the way it encompasses a male figure as well as a delicate flower (as most women are referred to). I think what drew me to review this book rather than just have a content piece was the blurb. The thought of a curse and someone who is luckier than luck itself was interesting to me and honestly I’m glad to have read it. The whole cat and mouse chase was also very appealing and I love that the author allowed you to see both sides of their story, not just one.
Overall I didn’t like the overly graphic *** scenes. I love a good romance, but I do not need to know how many different words there are for parts of the body. Don’t get me wrong, I like a good romantic, steamy scene, as much as the next person but I don’t think they have to be quite as graphic as they are in this book. That is also my only criticism. The rest of the book was bloody fantastic.
Zach is a wonderful character. He took on his little brother after his father left them for his mistress and has worked incredibly hard to give him a better life and to get where Zach is today; a self-made millionaire. He travels to Vallarta for two reasons, one to acquire a condo, the one he spent all his childhood summers in, and to be the best man for his little brother’s wedding. He begins his story very empty and believing that because of his father, he would never marry. Then Isabel comes along and changes everything.
Isabel is surrounded in mystery. She’s finally got hold of her grandparents condo, only to find that the day she moves in is the day her neighbours move out. Blaming her curse for all the bad things that have happened in her life she tries to keep everyone at arm’s length. Her sister is trying to find her a man, while all Isabel wants to focus on is her wedding planning career. However, fate seems to have other ideas when it sends her to a crash landing at the feet of the most handsome man alive, and he just won’t leave her alone. Hoping to stick to her one night stand rule, Isabel fights her affections and tries to stay clear, but when he’s the best man at her biggest wedding job, it seems she’s not getting away that easily.
The writing is so emotional and Brahm really gets you feeling their soul-deep need for one another. The chemistry between them is electric. Definitely a story I would recommend, despite the all too graphic nature of it, because behind that there really is a love story that could rival any of them. 4/5 stars from me (purely because of the bit I didn’t like). Grab yourself a copy for a Sunday afternoon.
