Absolutely loved meeting this lady back in March and now I have the wonderful task of bringing her back to my blog. This round of the interview will be short and sweet with only 5 questions. Giving a little more insight into Jenny's mind.
1. What are your favourite things to do to relax?
Oh dear, I’m not very good at ‘relaxing’. If when I’m trying to relax I tend to still be worrying or fretting about something. But obviously I try and reading is the main thing I like to do. Nothing beats getting stuck into a great book and forgetting about everything for a little while. I also clean and tidy a lot when I’m feeling stressed and need to unwind. The cleaning and decluttering really relaxes me but I can’t imagine many people would agree with me!
2. How do you come up with post ideas for your blog?
Erm… Oh a whim! Haha. I go through phases, one week I’ll be firing ideas left, right and centre and I usually note them all down on the notes section of my phone as soon as I have them, so I don't forget so it’s great to see my little note full with ideas but some weeks I’ll just be completely blank and nothing will come to me. You’ve gotta take one with the other, make the most of the good weeks so when you get to a bad one, you’ve got ideas written down so you don’t have to waste time thinking when it’s not going to get you anywhere. I try and take ideas from ideas as well - like a spider chart. Once I get one idea, I try and feed off that for others.
3. What are the three biggest things you find the hardest with blogging and writing?
Eeek, being consistent and not letting real life get in the way. I struggle with that, a lot. Struggling with anxiety every day and being a serial worrier does not help in the slightest and as soon as I enter a particularly anxious phase or start fretting about something then all desire and motivation for blogging goes out of the window because I just can’t concentrate or bear to think about anything else but the thing that’s worrying me. It’s annoying! Which obviously in turn makes my blog extremely inconsistent. Growing followers is always a struggle to. Although I have a really decent amount now that I’m very happy with, it’s always difficult to know where and how to grow from where you are. Sometimes you reach a bit of a standstill but that’s okay.
4. How often do you sit down to write?
My novel? Never, haha. I got about 3/4 through then I hit a really rough patch in my life and gave up on it and haven't picked it up since, 4 months later. I want to, I really do! Maybe in the New Year. But when I was writing, I would always make sure I wrote something every day. That was the aim - something. Whether that ended up being 50 words or 500 words, it didn’t matter. As long as I wrote something I was happy. I wasn’t in any rush to finish it and I didn’t wanna hurry up for the sake of it so it really worked for me.
5. Which three authors would you want to meet?
John Green because he’s my absolutely literary hero and he seems like such a lovely, down-to-earth guy that you could have a laugh with. I’d also love to meet Markus Zusak and ask him a ton of questions about The Book Thief and how on Earth did he manage to write such a beautiful book. Last one… Hmmm… Cecelia Ahern. Because she’s an incredible, beautiful writer and she seems really nice.
