So today my interview series is on my lifestyle section as I have a beauty blogger joining me. This lady is a wonderful blogger and has a beautiful blog design. However this series is something I have come to love, I'm a nosey parker so asking questions is my thing, and Jasmines answers are perfect. The way she brings a casual friendliness to her writing makes you seem like you're chatting with a friend you've known for years.
1. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging to pursue my passion of writing. As a child, I always loved writing and it's something that has stuck with me. By blogging, I can write and write for hours on end! Before starting my blog, I spent a lot of times reading other beauty blogs, and always thought it looked fun so went ahead for it and started my own!
2. How do you find content ideas?
I'm not really too sure. Ideas just kind of pop into my mind! Even at strange times, like brushing my teeth or out shopping!
3. What dreams do you have for your blog in the future?
One dream for my blog is that it continues to grow. I've been blogging since April 2014, so it really is incredible to see my blog grow from basically nothing! I also dream of getting a fancy new camera and back settings to improve my photos even further.
4. Do you stick to a niche or do other posts end up on your blog?
Majority of the time I stick to my blogging niche of beauty. There's been a couple of times I've done fashion posts and really have enjoyed them, or two or three lifestyle posts. My love lies with beauty so I usually stick to that.
5. What's your planning process?
My planning process usually consists of me just sitting there and thinking of potential posts! If I haven't featured something on my blog, I'll take photos of it (normally I go in bulk and take hundreds of photos of products in general) and then turn my photos into post ideas.
6. 2 things you find the most difficult about blogging?
One thing I find difficult about blogging is taking photos, especially during Autumn and Winter. The lighting just isn't as good and it's hard to get photos I'm happy with, but, recently my secret to solving them is taking photos, lots of them, when there's nice days! That isn't always possible so it can be quite tricky. A second thing I find difficult is HTML. I cannot understand that for my life, even the basics! If I need help on HTML, I always take to twitter and dm quite a lot of bloggers for help and have about 10 tabs open trying to google the answer too. Oh HTML, you do stress me out!
7. 2 things you love about blogging?
It's so hard to pick just two things I love about blogging because I adore every aspect of it! Although, I have to say writing. As I said previously, I love writing so that's one reason, because I can ramble on about a lipstick and nobody thinks anything of it! And a second reason is probably the community. The blogging community is so friendly, supportive and helpful! Joining in twitter chats, I have realised everyone talks to each other and there's no divide! I talk to multiple bloggers whom I'd say are my blogging friends and it's lovely. On twitter, if I'm having a blogging dilemma, I'll tweet asking for help and many bloggers will reply to help me - thanks guys!
8. Advice for aspiring bloggers?
I have lots of tips because a lot of people often tweet or dm me asking for blogging tips! I have to say firstly, enjoy every minute of blogging! If you aren't enjoying it, then why are you doing it? I blog because I love beauty and it's a hobby of mine I adore doing! Also, don't do it for the 'freebies' - us bloggers work very hard and working with brands comes from a lot of effort and contributing to our blogs! Some other tips are blog about what you want. It's your blog, so blog about whatever you like! Don't blog about the newest lipstick because other bloggers are. If it isn't your thing, don't feel the need to do so! And don't expect your blog to grow overnight, it takes time!
That's all for today. If you want to find Jasmine she's at the links below.
