One of the most popular blog posts types are list posts because of their ease and flexibility. You can write a list post about pretty much anything, check out my 25 thoughts about blogging post or 5 things you need to do as a writer for some examples of list posts that I have done. Have an idea with multiple answers? List them!
So what do you need to write a list post?
Topic - You need to have a certain topic, you can't just list things randomly. Unless your list is about random ideas, then it works. You need a topic whether that be tips, thoughts, products etc. they all work with this format.
Items - You need to decide on the number of points or items that are going to be on your list. This can be anything from 5-100, but you need a definitive number. Tip: this helps you brainstorm if you know how many you need! However, make sure they're all similar and related to your topic. It wouldn't make sense for me to write 5 things to do as a writer and put in go partying, that doesn't help you write! Although you might get a fun story out of it.
Paragraph - Make sure you're able to write one or two sentences about the item you've listed. You don't need to do this for posts like 25 thoughts. If it's like 5 Things then you need to make sure you're telling people why they need them.
Format - A list post must be consistent. Having numbers 1-3 then followed by bullet points does not look good! It's also a good idea to order them logically.
