As we count down the days till the end I am super excited for today's challenge. I love, love, and I am thinking about trying my hand as a couple of romance novels so hopefully you'll let me know whether I am good enough! I'm confident I can as I am a complete fantasiser. In the good way!
Mini-Challenge:
Write a short scene of unrequited love.
Focus:
Nothing is more heart-breaking than unrequited love. Learn to tap into the heart-breaking moments of life by writing about a character whose love goes unnoticed, or worse, is rejected. Focus on working up the inner struggle of your point of view character as they deal with their emotions.
I swallowed hard, what was I supposed to day now? I had no idea what to do but standing there in front of her awkwardly was worse than not saying anything to her.
"Of course you do," I half-chuckled, "a beautiful girl like you would have to have been snapped up." My hands were starting to sweat. "I-um, I... I'm gunna go before I put my foot farther in my mouth." She laughed and I felt the twang on my heart.
As I got over to my work colleague he slapped me on the shoulder and smiled his jokey smile as he squeezed. "Looks like you buggered that one up, maybe next time yeah?" he couldn't stop himself from laughing at me and I felt my cheeks burn. I needed to get out of here. I shoved his hand off of my shoulder and stormed out of the coffee shop. I had never been so embarressed but my heart still yearned for her.
End Scene
So how did I do? I kinda like coffee shop scenes. Definitely stealing this from Kristen too! What did you think? Let me know below...
